Job Description

Join our team to solicit, capture, plan, and coordinate small meetings (10 rooms or less) and social catering functions. Your role will focus on optimizing banquet space to meet and exceed our catering revenue goals, while finalizing catering-only business and recommending program improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, and networking to maximize banquet space and revenue.
  • Marketing Strategy: Implement a territorial marketing strategy to capture maximum revenue and exceed sales goals.
  • Event Planning: Collaborate with clients to plan, upsell, and detail meetings/functions, addressing space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes, and decorations.
  • Contract Management: Complete contracts and prepare necessary paperwork, including banquet event orders. Coordinate with hotel departments to resolve issues and ensure quality service.
  • Reporting: Prepare status and period-end reports.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay updated on corporate and hotel procedures, products, and the competitive landscape to improve sales strategies.
  • Communication: Maintain professional and positive communication with guests and team members.

Requirements

  • One to two years of relevant experience in a similar role within this or another organization.
  • Thorough understanding of catering, food and beverage practices, menu development, and pricing.
  • Familiarity with hotel policies and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in analyzing data and making logical recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills for negotiation and influencing both professionals and guests.
  • Valid driver’s license for outside sales calls.
  • Excellent literacy for developing marketing plans and menus.
  • Ability to interact verbally with guests and associates, requiring excellent hearing and speech communication skills.
  • Strong vision for set-up viewing.
  • Physical tasks include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Mobility to service clients quickly and effectively.
  • Occasional driving for sales calls.
  • Work primarily indoors (70% of a 10-hour day) with some outdoor tasks (30%).
